I'm pretty sure that the South had more land mass in total, but that's a great question I would like to learn about. Do you think having more land would be an advantage, or a disadvantage? With more land, you would have more to protect and would have to spread soldiers in more places, along with defenses and camps. ~Annabelle C.
In the south, the people who still wanted slavery, did not tell the slaves after the war when the north won. Some slaves on the other hand still kept working because the did not know yet. -Riley
What I mean is, did some slaves NEVER get released and a bigger dispute formed? Or did all of the slaves get freed gradually? Sorry for not clarifying, ~Annabelle
The South had a small army, and knew that the slaves "belonged" to them, which was perfectly legal back then. (I think.) Therefore, the Southern could fight with slaves the same way they could fight with guns or cannons, because slaves were deemed as property. ~Annabelle C.
Asher is right the North out numbered the by ALOT which was huge. Also the north had MUCH more supplies and the south didn't have anywhere close to as much. -Will
The northerners had more factories for manufacturing war supplies. They also had more railroads to transport war supplies. They also had more soldiers. Since the northerners had more factories, ways of transportation, and soldiers, they probably had a bigger chance of winning.

I would really like to know if women fought in the civil war and if they did would they actually fight or would they cure men and supply them? I would also like to know if kids or kids slaves fought in the war?
Women did not fight in the war they were nurses for when any of the men where wounded or injured. I do not know about kids fighting in the war but my guess is the did not. -Riley
Kids did not fight but they did "fight" by being drummer boys or bear the flag stuff like that. They would also carry news and sometimes supplies, it was many male boys who did this. Also the south did force slaves to fight for slavery, how messed up is that? -Will
I think that neither women nor children had to fight in the war. I agree with you, Will, the kids probably did play a role in the civil war but not very much.
The Civil War was fought in thousands of different places. Including Pennsylvania, Texas, New Mexico, and Florida. Most of the fighting, though, took place in Virginia and Tennessee. The war even stretched to the Atlantic Ocean as far off as the coast of France, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Mississippi River.
I would like to learn about if people were wounded or injured fighting in the battle, who would help them at what risks would be a stake. ~Cortney Klein
There were nurses on the battlefield that did not choose sides. Those were the ones that helped the soldiers. (I am not positive but I am pretty sure.) -Losha
Sorry. My grammar was incorrect. What I meant to say was that if people were injured during the civil war, were there nurses on the battlefield that would rush to that persons aid or not. What risks would be at stake if those nurses took them to operate? -Cortney Klein
The war lasted 4 years, it was from 1861 to 1865. You could say the war ended right away, but the effects lasted for a while, such as arguments between the North and South. Slave owners did not let slaves go because they were MEAN as you said, and they knew they could keep the slaves without the North getting mad. Slaves were a big way to make money, so any way to keep them was great for the South.
Why did the slaves think they were still enslaved after the war? Why did the "slave owners" still treat the "slaves" like slaves even though the "slaves" had been freed. -Tina
This happened because the slaves couldn't read or write, the weren't educated at all so the slave owners just didn't tell them that they were actually free! -Will
Oops sorry, R0DRIG0 already did that question. Ok, so did any former slaves that were free in the North fight in the war because they wanted to, or did mostly white men fight, because on the video it looked like there was a small percentage of African American fought on the South and the others were caucasian men. On the side where it represented the North it looked like there was no African American people on the North's side. ~Salter~ P.S This was probably one of the biggest comments I have ever wrote, haha.
I wonder if the Union had a great big plan and the same with the Confederates. I was looking for something in my social studies textbook last year when I stumbled upon something that mentioned a Anaconda 3 part plan for the Union I think
I want to know when each of the Southern states seceded from the Union, which seceded first/ last, and why. It might have to do with which states were more loyal to slavery and which ones were ready to give in quickly.
Se·cede SəˈsÄ“d/ verb past tense: seceded; past participle: seceded withdraw formally from membership in a federal union, an alliance, or a political or religious organization.
My best guess was that it still took a while after the war to adjust to no slavery and people still owned slaves because no one really enforced the no slavery rule but a couple years after president Lincoln might have enforced the law before he was assassinated or maybe one of his followers enforced it. I also wonder if the person who tried to assassinate Abraham Lincoln was upset about no slavery and if Lincoln was assassinated during or after the war. We may never know......... just kidding I bet we will learn it in social studies.
Oops! Ms.Hall already partially said this: she said the things about not enforcing no slavery and plantation owners still kept slaves working for years after the war!

What did the people do that were in states that were fighting? Were they limited there food or water because of the war. What was life like if you were a bye standard. -Owen
I would really like to learn about what roles women played during the Civil War. I know that women were helpful as nurses, but what else did they do to help their side? Were there any significant women leaders? Also, what were benefits and disadvantages for both the Union and Confederacy?
Who where the leaders of the North and the South military? What other people were behind the Civil War, but didn't fight in it? Did more people agree or disagree with the war? -Isabella Luz
An answer to a question I would like to know is if the Civil War was just one long war, or multiple wars one after another, or maybe even multiple seperate battles. ~Coco L.
The Civil War was considered one war, but it was normal length compared to most wars. All wars consist of multiple battles, and are grouped into a war if it lasts for long enough. I'm pretty sure we're going to learn about each battle and stuff though. ~Annabelle C.
Most soldiers in the Civil War and other wars eat things such as an assortment of meats, usually salted, and also coffee along with raw sugar, raw salt, and vinegar. When in season, they would also eat dried fruit, and very rarely fresh fruit. There were soldiers from many different ages, which is the same as many other wars. However, the Union had an age restriction on their soldiers, so none of their soldiers were younger than 18. The South, however, had no age restrictions, and used many young children as drummers, fifers, or buglers. About 20% of the soldiers in all of the war were younger than 18. There were many naval battles in the Civil War, such as the Battle of Hampton Road and the Battle of Cherbourg. There were many other naval battles, and a good amount of Civil War battles were naval. ~Annabelle C. (I know, "TLDR", but I still felt like writing a long comment.)
I want to learn about Ulysses Grant like were he was born, how he died, and other stuff about his history. Please take this into consideration Mrs. Hall. -Michael C.
What was the impact that happened after the war? Were all buildings destroyed? What happened? Did people have to work extra hard for food? Were slaves helping? And do people still have slaves? Just so they can work. Did they just hide them and secretly get them to work? Some one please answer me as ASAP!!! - Parker Vellieux
