Your family has decided to move west to settle new land. How will you prepare for the journey? What challenges will you face? What groups of people will you encounter? What items will you bring? What must you leave behind? How will your family survive? Answer 3 of the 6 questions.
i would bring some drinks, foods, clothes and stuff animals. i would leave behind writing things, schools, and bio. i would encounted some cowboys, and some war people people who were in the war.
ReplyDelete-ryan :)
I would prepare by bringing water food and something to entertain myself I would leave behind a note. And would encounter cowboys.
ReplyDelete- Harry
What do you mean by I would leave behind a note.
Delete-Tina
I would encounter mountain men and Native Americans. I would bring cattle, clothes, and tools. I would bring cattle because the cattle provides leather, food, and you can sell it. I would bring clothes, but just one pair of clothes because, the cattle provides clothes. I would bring tools because you need tools to shed the leather of a cow and cook the meat inside of it. I think one of the most difficult problems I would face is disease. Since I am not bringing water, the water in the lakes and steams may be harmful. I also think that along the way when we come across the Native Americans, they may e very agree because we are taking their land.
ReplyDelete-Isabella Luz
I would be leaving behind my family, friends, and the industry. I would bring clothes, cattle, and tools. Cattle can be used by selling them to others, and cattle can make leather for clothes, and food. I would bring tools to help me farm, cook, build, and do many other things. I would encounter cowboys, native americans, and other families.
ReplyDelete-Cortney Klein
I would bring something to entertain myself, clothes, water, and a house. I would face Cowboys, Natives, and stampedes. I would leave behind useless things like water warmers and things to put my drinks on.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I know that bringing a house is insane and probably wouldn't be able to bring a house back then but it said what would you bring and didn't have any restrictions. (:
Seba
If I was part of the Westward Expansion, I would bring food, water, cattle, cloths, and tools. I wood bring supplies to build houses and mark my territory. I would encounter Mountain men, Native American, Cowboys and other families.
ReplyDelete~Roswell Bond
To prepare for the journey I would bring clothing, water, food cattle, and tools. Some challenges I would face would be illness and starving. I would most likely encounter a group of Indians or more groups.
ReplyDelete-Tori Williams:)
I would bring all my basic needs like water, clothing, and food, and some sort of weapon to defend myself.I would probably encounter Indians, buffalo, and cattle along the way.And I would face the challenges of being sick, having to protect myself, and finally finishing moving to the west.
ReplyDeleteDillon
If I was moving west I would be having to leave behind some family or people who were close to me and everything I have ever known. I would like to bring large supplies of water, food, clean clothing, a wagon, and horses. I would also bring a few of my personal choices. Some people I will encounter along the way are American Indians, mountain men, and other settlers.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said water as something you would bring. (i forgot to write that in mine.)

ReplyDeleteI would bring food, water, horses, clothing, and basic supplies. the challenges I might encounter might be water, storms, being sick, and wagon breaking.I might encounter would be native Americans.I might have to leave my dog and my brother. we might have to survive on fish and any thing we could find.
ReplyDelete-asher
Some challenges we might face is weather, animals, native Americans. I would bring food, canteens of water, wood for fire, and supplies for building a house. I might have to leave behind my sisters and some of the family and we would survive off fish plants buffalo or any thing that is a potential meal.
ReplyDeleteby triston
Deletei would probably find native Americans on the trail. i would bring food, clothing, weapons, tools to farm with, and some stuff to trade with.i would probably face the challenges of diseases , lack of medical supplies, and lack of shelter.
ReplyDelete-connor
I would bring food, water, a big dog to protect us and things to write letters with. I will leave things like toys and things like that at home because we don't need all those things to take up space. We will face many challenges like weather and rivers that we might come across we might also face wild animals.
ReplyDelete~Hannah G.~
To prepare for the journey I would teach everyone in my family survival skillets just in case,(starting fire, finding food, etc). I would bring a couple horses, pots, pans, my gun(everyone had a gun), my dog, my family, and LOTS of food and water because people would frequently run out of food and water really quick. People would fill a wagon with water and go 1 mile east of the wester town and sell water for $100 because they didn't know how far till town. I would leave behind as least as possible because all we would have is useful things. I would have to leave lots of farm animals etc, lots of furniture, my house, stove, and plow.
ReplyDelete~~~William Franetovich
I would take food, water, and cattel. I would leave my house and things that don't help me survive. I would face illness, dehydration, and indians that don't approve of us taking their land.-james
ReplyDeleteIf I were to move to the west during westward expansion I would bring clothes, guns and gunpowder to protect my family and other people traveling with me, huge buckets of water and food. And, I would bring 3 male horses and a big wagon. I would also bring money and some pans to cook and pan for gold if we run out of money. And I would bring some axes, shovels, and 2 mattresses. I think we would encounter Fur trappers, Fur trader, hunters, other settlers, native Americans, and mountain men. We would probably face weather challenges, running out of food and water, robbery, running out of supplies, natives, and materials breaking (wagon breaking).
ReplyDeleteRodrigo
Rod why would you need a pan you are not going to the gold rush there isn't going to be gold?
DeleteKenji
I would prepare for my journey by purchasing horses and a wagon, and packing up my stuff. I would be sure to bring lots of food and water, blankets, tools for repairing my wagon if it broke, and spare parts for my wagon. I would have to leave behind my house, friends, and any shops or buildings that I owned in the place I used to live. During my journey, I would face illness, bad weather, and lack of nutrition. I would encounter other settlers and Native Americans. My family will survive by eating enough but not too much food and staying inside of the wagon in case of bad weather.
ReplyDelete~Annabelle Craven
If I was moving west, I would bring clothing, food, water, books, ect. Along the way I would probably encounter some cowboys, Native Americans, other families traveling. My family will survive off of the food, water and our shelter would be the wagons.
ReplyDelete~Emma Lepik
If I had to move west, I would bring my gun to defend myself and hunt, lots of gallons of water to stay hydrated for days, and a lot of vegetables and other foods that take long intervals of time to expire(I am pescatarian so mostly vegetables. To survive I would have my gun and knife etc., learn survival skills from Native Americans, and I would keep my covered wagon close to a river because all animals need water(hunting) plus I need water. I would face hunger, illness, wildlife, dehydration, and the death of my horses.
ReplyDelete-Jake
If i had to move to the west i would bring food, water, and horses, also probably weapons to defend myself, and clothes. The challenges I would face is the wildlife and dehydration and hunger. The people I would probably encounter is other people moving to the west and also probably native Americans.
ReplyDeleteGio
I would bring cattle to sell and a gun to protect myself. Also I would meet friends along the trail or maybe a soldier. I would pack books, too. I also would prepare myself by eating smaller meals if food gets low.
ReplyDelete-Raina Huchteman
If my family was moving west, we would encounter Native Americans and Cowboys. I would bring food, supplies incase something happens to our wagon, a gun to hunt cattle and defend ourselves, clothing, and special things to me. My family would probably encounter starvation and illnesses.
ReplyDelete-Riley
If my family and I were going to move West, I would definitely bring food, water, any kitchen necessities, and probably any thing important ( aside from the wagon and horses of course!!!). Some things that would impact my trip would be storm, lack of food, lack of water, and illness. If I had to leave stuff behind, I would leave my house, any unwanted items such as sick horses or cattle, and other supplies that weren't going to be useful to the kind of adventure I was going to take!
ReplyDelete~Mia Otoski
The challenges i would face can be wild animal attacks, lack of food and sicknesses.I would bring food, a weapon, horse, wagon and cattle.I would leave my house and books. -haden
ReplyDeleteIf my family decided to move west to settle new land, to prepare for the journey I would try and learn every thing that I could about the wilderness and camping. Some challenges that I might face would be bad weather, sickness (cholera), and lack of supplies (water, food..). I will try and bring plenty of water, food, weapons, and other house hold items that will fit. I will try and fit as much as I can into one wagon with some room for sleeping.
ReplyDelete-Sarah Prevost
PS. If I went in a time machine and already new about how sicknesses were common and lots of people died from lack of clean water, then I would also bring medicine and extra water.
If my family decided to move west i would learn things to help me survive. I would worry about sickness and heat. I would bring a wagon, water, food, and other wilderness survival kits.
ReplyDelete-Jeffrey Hallett
That was short.
Delete-Noah Fasil Muche
I would have to leave behind basic luxuries such as toilets and lots of shelter. I will encounter people such as Native Americans and other people like me, looking for a spacious place to settle. I would have to prepare to move by sleeping in a tent-like space, learning to hunt and gather, and to set up a rigorous training course to boost my running. A challenge I might face is that I might catch a dangerous trail disease such as Cholera or Dissentary. I would have to bring necessary items, such as food, water, and... TOYS! (just kidding about that last one. I bet kids on the trails were SOOOOOOO bored.) My family would have to survive by hunting and gathering to the very latest, sundown, and running the risk of catching a dangerous trail disease by drinking the pond water.

if my family and I were traveling out to the west, I would probably lave behind all of my toys and stuff that wasn't that important. I would definitely bring water, food, clothing, and a shelter. I would probably meet Native Americans and other people traveling out west too. also, my family might encounter rivers we need to cross, mountains we need to climb over, and possibly people who want to take our stuff.
ReplyDelete-bella
I would probably have to leave a lot of my stuff. We would have limited supplies and resources. We would probably face others like us trying to move west and we would face native americans.
ReplyDelete-Brady
ReplyDeleteIf I were traveling out west, I would bring food, water, and my family and pets. We would probably encounter Native Americans, mountains, and many plains or meadows. I would leave behind all of my electronics, toys, and furniture. We would probably face challenges like Dysentary (disease), thieves, and people we would have to leave behind.
ReplyDeleteSorry,
ReplyDelete~ Lucy Adams
I would also bring some medicine to help out if I new about those diseases to help the sick, too Sarah P.!
ReplyDelete~ Lucy Adams
What's with all the posts? Seriously?
Delete-Noah Fasil Muche
I would bring clothes, food, water, seeds(to grow crops), money, medicine, building materials, soap, and toilet paper.( I'm just saying, who wants to live without it?) I will face challenges such as traveling over mountains, through rivers, through dust storms, over bumpy land, and through swarms of mosquitos.(They carry Malaria.) I would leave behind my bed, home, toilet, and lots of other things. While on the trail, I would expect to pass by other settlers, Native Americans, and buffalo.( they aren't people, but I would expect to see plenty from a distance.)To survive, we would use the food and water we brought. We would use our materials to build a shelter. We would plant and tend our seeds until we made crops. We would hunt some rabbits, but probably no buffalo.
ReplyDelete-Aisling
P.S. I did 5 out of 6 questions because they went together.
If we were moving West, I would find out about how the trail would be to prepare for it. For example; if the journey was cold, I'd bring a lot of jackets. If it was dry (like a desert) I would bring lots of water. I' also bring medicine to cure sicknesses.
ReplyDeleteI would bring everything I had because we would probably never come back. If your never going back, I'd recommend bringing everything when you have the chance. Otherwise, POOF!!!! It's gone & you'll never see it again. So I'm saying I'd leave nothing behind.
We might face problems like starvation or sickness. Lots of people died on the path. That's why I'd pack medicine. Also food might be hard to find as we won't have land yet.
We'd survive off of the medicine. And we'd also hunt (well the GUYS will) & eat plants, too. But plants will be hard as we don't have land yet.
I'd expect to see Native Americans since it's THEIR native land. But probably not since they're being shooed off their land. I'd also expect to see other people that are moving since the Westward Expansion is getting famous.
-Noah Fasil Muche
P.S. I did 6/6 just because.
You can't bring everything with you, you can't bring a T.V, furniture, tables, lamps, posters, or most of your house. You also can't live off of medicine. One, what if someone's really sick and you waste all your medicine to live off of. Two, medicine ISN'T food or anything that you should take daily without a prescription.
Delete-Tina
I would pack food, water, clothing and something that can be easily put up and taken down for shelter. I would leave behind my home, furniture and etc. Problems: We could run out of food, the horses could that pulled the wagon could die, we could get a disease, etc. We would probably encounter many people on the way also traveling to the west.
ReplyDelete_____~_____~_____~DELANEY~_____~_____~_____
I would have to face losing my friends and i would have to bring things such as
ReplyDeleteeverything i was capable of bringing!I would probably see native americans.
-Evan Planeaux
What I would bring would be food, water, clothes, medicine(if they had any back then), also I would bring money to buy anything else I could possibly need, and I would bring wood to make a shelter. I would leave behind friends, family and the comforts of home. I would probably encounter some native american's and some other settlers.
ReplyDeleteThat was from -KMD
ReplyDeleteYou all are doing an amazing job! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteIf i were in the Westward Expansion i would pack a lot of food in case the horses or cattle slow down and you are stopped for a while. I might also encounter Native Americans that want to harm me because many people were very mean to Native Americans. My family would survive because i would be the smart one who actually brought food and hunting supplies. Also we could take a lot of breaks and not get too tired that your horses or cattle die. you would want to be in the inside of your wagon because of some of the harsh weather.s
ReplyDelete_JASON :[)
I mean so you dont get tired. Also you dont want your horses or cattle to die.
Delete_JASon
If my family and I decided to move west i would bring 7 pairs of clothes, 6 pj's, pets, food ,shelter, and money. I would leave behind my home, friends, etc. The problems I might encounter are sickness,Indians, rivers, lack of water and food.
ReplyDelete-Katie Mae Sigal
I would prepare by learning all I could about the west. I will face disease, angry Native Americans, and stampedes. I would encounter mountain men, fur traders, Native Americans, and other people who are also going west. I would bring a gun, cattle, horses, a tent, a small wagon, clean water, food, tools, and other basic necessities. I would leave furniture, toilets, and other comfort items. My family will survive by hunting, eating cattle, drinking clean water, and eating veggies.
ReplyDelete~LOSHA
P.S. I did 6/6. Is that o.k. Ms. Hall?
I would bring food, clothes, stuff animals, shelter, and water. I would leave my home, tv, and etc. I will face bad weather.
ReplyDelete~Jamie~
To pack up I would only pack my favorite things. I would maybe meet some Indianans to help guide me along the trail. I would probably go to some ranches too. I would face maybe sickness, a broken tire, and more difficult challenges. Going to the west wasn't easy.
ReplyDelete- Parker Pape
I spelled Indians wrong.
Delete- Parker Pape
If my family moved south I think I would encounter many other settlers and indians.I would pack food an clothing also tools (guns axes.ect.)I think I would leave my toys and other stuff that we dont NEED.
ReplyDeleteEllery
I agree. We don't NEED toys-they would make the load heavier.
Delete-Sofia
I would bring a lot of nonperishable food and lots of water to last the long trip because if you don't people can make you buy water or food for a lot more. We would meet boredom but I think we would find a way to fight it. I think we would meet some nice people and people who would try to con us for our food, water, or money.
ReplyDeleteThis is Kenji Wu
DeleteI would bring lots of water, food, clothes,my dog, and toys to keep me entertained. I would encounter Native Americans, settlers, and wolves. We would survive by drinking water, eating, walking, and learning how to shoot guns so we can defend ourselves. - Sophia Schier ;{D
ReplyDeleteI will go and settle with other a family then I would settle were there would be more land and farm on the land and sell cash crops and have cattle to eat.
ReplyDeletethat was jack.
ReplyDeletefirst we would get all essentials and but them in the first wagon.the second wagon will hold some other things like old things from other family and at least some entertainment in the second wagon.the second wagon will also hold both my younger brothers and mom.me and my older sister will be driving the first wagon.my dad will be driving the first wagon.then we would head off with our stuff.we would stop and set up camp at 5:30then i woul take two bows for me and my dad and check if there were any animals nearby for extra food.we would leave one weapon with my sister just in case.if possible we would find other familys moving west to camp west.thats how i would plan to move west.(patriotic music)

For preparing for the journey I would bring food, water, and a horse. For the challenges that I would face could not be known until I went for the journey. Finally I would leave my friends and home to go to this new place.
ReplyDelete-Lexi
I would face challenges like indians and illness. I would bring food, water, plates, tent, blankets, gun for hunting, axe, pot, wagon, and horses. I would not bring toys or jewelry.
ReplyDelete-annie
For the journey I would bring along water, food and a few horses of mules. I may encounter Native American tribes or some cowboys. I would be around many other Americans because I would travel in a wagon train. Possible dangers I could encounter were bad weather and having to cross rivers. But I would still be excited about the journey west.
ReplyDelete«Sofia»
I would prepare for the journey by learning to live without electricity, sleeping in very cramped places while moving across various landforms, facing wild animals, and surviving without as much water as I want. I would definitely need to bring lots of medicine, first aid kits, in case someone got sick, and basic things to survive like water, food, and clothing. My family and I would probably need to leave behind all our toys, furniture, arts 'n' crafts, comfortable beds to sleep in, and games. While along the way to the west, my family and I would probably encounter Native Americans, other people trying to settle in the west, and African American cowboys. Some challenges my family might experience could be fatal diseases, fast flowing currents, dry deserts, or maybe even angry Native Americans trying to kill us.
ReplyDelete-Tina
look i would bring proper footwear i would pack books clothes i would bring food and water i definitely need a coat just in case it gets cold i would bring a blanket so at night i wont get cold and a gun so i can defend myself

During my long hard journey, I will need anyone basic needs, food, water, and shelter. The challenges would be weather conditions, food scarcity, and many other. Along the way, I shall encounter different native American tribes, as well as other settlers.
ReplyDelete-Alessia (sorry)
DeleteIf my family decided to move west and we were living back then I would bring food, water, cloths , and 1 item of my choice. On the journey we might encounter Native Americans, cattle, and cowboys. While on the trip we might face bad weather, illness, and wild animals.
ReplyDelete- Lucy G.
If I were taking a trip to the West, I would pack food, water, and clothing. For the food, I would take beans, grains, crackers, dry fruit, and maybe a cow for milk. On the trip I would encounter Native American tribes. I would have to leave behind my house, big pieces of furniture, elderly family members, and friends.
ReplyDelete-Sarah Madlem
I would bring with me family, toys, books, and pictures.I would leave behind friends, some family, and my house and school. We would survive by my family's water, warmth, and food.
ReplyDelete-Ava M 0-0
If I was moving West, I would bring a lot of food, water, something to keep me busy (not electronics), also clothing. I might face many challenges like bad weather, crossing rivers and wagon breaking. I must leave behind some friends and family who are not traveling like grandparents, aunts and uncles. Also things that are not that important like toys. I would encounter other settlers and Americans because they would be traveling too with horses and wagon trains. It will be a challenging journey, but I would believe that our family could do it.
ReplyDelete~Nylah
My family would have to bring a lot of water and a lot of food. We would end up encountering a bear and a Native American tribe. We would for sure leave behind my brothers stuffed animals.
ReplyDeleteOwen
I will make sure to bring weapons because of the many Indians that roamed the land back then.
ReplyDelete~Salter
If my family was heading west I would bring blankets, drinks, food, water,my dog, clothes, and probably writing supplies to do something. We would probably face a couple challenges like weather (heat, rain, lighting) and then also if our wagon breaks that would be a challenge. We will probably survive by drinking water, having food.supporting each other, and probably everyone's strength.
ReplyDelete~Sierra
I would bring lots of clothing, food and water, and books. I would leave behind all my friends and some family, i would also have to leave behind my 2 cats. -Mia Cabral
ReplyDeleteI am going to make a new one just because i don't think that my last one was very good.... anyways i would pack important stuff like blankets, clothes, jackets, maybe a couple of books to occupy myself. things i wouldn't bring are games { just in case i dont have enough room in the carriage} i would not bring toys
ReplyDeleteif my family was moving to the west we would have to leave behind family friends and toys and pets. on this journey we will encounter native americans because this is their land. and my family will encounter diseases from water from the pond. one way my family will survive is i will have to bring a rifle so i can go hunting for food and we will build a house to settle in and some wolves will try to at least try to kill our horses and we will also use the water to wash clothes.
