    1. Thats interesting, but troops mean groups of people, so the Union probably didn't lose 1,002 troops, but could've lost 1,002 soldiers, and the same for the south.

  18. The Battle of Santa Rosa Island happened because Florida seceded from the Union on January 10, 1861. It took place on Santa Rosa Island (Florida). It was a failed attempt by Confederate forces to take the Union-held Fort Pickens.

FYI: On the same day that Florida seceded Union comander Slemmer, with the support of Commodore Armstrong, evacuated his 51 soldiers, along with 30 sailors, from the shipyard and transported them to Fort Pickens.

  20. The battle of Hill's Plantation took place in Woodruff County, Arkansa, on July 7th (my birthday)in 1862. Other names for this battle are Cache River, Cotton Plant, and Round Hill. Colonel Charles Hovey and General William P. Benton were commanders for the Union and Colonel William Parsons and General Thomas C. Hindman were commanders of the Confederacy. There were about 63 casualties in the Union Army and about 245 casualties in the Confederate Army. This lead to a victory for the Union. (GO UNION!)
