Create Your Own Constitutional Amendment- 1st Assignment
If you could create your own amendment to be added to the constitution, what would it be and why? Complete your entry by September 18th. Be sure to respond to 1 classmate's entry. Be creative!
Vishwa that is a great amendment kids need to go out side because that is physical education. Because if your going to Inman middle school then you need to go out side and play! And you only have P.E only 1/4 of the year so the other 3 sections of the year you have no recess then kids get loud and don't listen because they have not gotten there inner crazy out! Vishwa, seeing as there are much more things to learn in those higher grades, you're basically asking for longer, more tiring school days, and teachers rushing to teach lessons. While this would be cool and slightly benefit the students, I disagree because of academic time not fitting in to a tight schedule.
I think that is good idea Vishwa it will give us more exercise, but will we have time for recess with all the work we have in high school and middle school? -Riley

My amendment would be that students get the chance to listen to music of their choice everyday after instructions(you will need to bring your electronic and headphones) (no computers) -Peyton <3 <3 <3 :) :)
I agree about getting to listen to music after instruction, but what if somebody isn't allowed to bring an electronic? I think that the students should have a QUICK vote of what music they want to listen to. If a lot of the students disagree, they could also write down their idea and the teacher picks one. I do think having music at the end of instruction is a good idea though. -Tina
An amendment I would publish would have to be allowing kids to chew gum in class! I know you guys think it will annoy and/or distract kids in class, but as long as they don't pop their gum it will be alright! I think all kids would like to chew gum in ALL classes. I think people should the right to eat their snack in any class period at school. This means that I could eat my snack in Ms.Riggins class instead of in math. -Annie
Well you see, most schools don't even have snack, so snack time is pretty much a reward to us. I don't think it would be a good idea to mess with that.
I think that us even having snack is a reward and having snack in one period is more organized and the teachers expect us to have a snack in that class. - Hanna

Triston, I like the idea of each class having a pet, but I also agree with Michael; the teacher should decide. Also,(as Damian pointed out) kids may have allergies. Third pets would cost money. Parents and teacher might not want to spend their money on them. And a school full of pets-that's a lot of money. Although it still would be very entertaining to have a class pet (for every classroom)
If I was able to create and amendment it would be no student can lose recess unless the majority of witnesses or students asked prove the student guilty unless the teacher sees the student do the action him/herself. -Michael
We should be allowed to choose what educational videos we can watch or at least ban 'LearnZillion'. Their videos are really boring via math class. I don't exactly know what "via" means to don't judge me. -Sophia Schier

My amendment would be to make a 10 minute break in between classes. This means we could go to our lockers and get stuff from our lockers. We wouldn't have to carry so much stuff around! -Losha
That would be amazing Losha! However, you have to think about academic time, our school days would have to be more than an hour longer to fit in all the learning. I do agree with you, but maybe a five minute break every other class instead?
Students have the right to only carry a maximum of 6.5 pounds in their backpack.This will increase the number of kids that DO NOT have shoulder and back pain.This shall be a nation wide rule.-Raina
Tina I'm not completely sure about that because like what if a kid punches another kid in the face and breaks their nose. That should definitely be more than three days of recess. Maybe even suspension. -Michael
I think that kids should be allowed to bring their water bottles to school and any place in school whenever they please, because sometimes teachers do not allow children to drink water during class, which could lead to dehydration and serious throat injuries. Yes, Annabelle! I totally agree! You should be able to bring water bottles to class. However, the teachers that don't allow you to bring water bottles to class, don't they allow you to drink out of the water fountains in and around the school? So, I agree, except the fact that most schools already have water fountains laid around the school building. :P ~Coco Lu
That's definitely true, but the few who don't allow you to get water *cough* specials teachers *cough* should allow you to bring water bottles to class.
I totally agree, students should ALWAYS have the right to water. also we should have the right to a bathroom at all times. In art we can't drink or use the restroom, what's u with that? (This might also have been the most long-winded thing I've said in my entire life too!)
If I had to create an amendment that is fair to all citizens, I would say that everyone is allowed to wear anything to anywhere they want to. As long as nobody gets injured or trips over long dresses, I think that it will be okay. :) Just make sure you don't wear big poofy dresses that block others' way. :) ~Coco Lu
Good idea, but ice cream costs a lot. We would have to take Band or Orchestra off JUST FOR ICE CREAM! I like ice cream, but I don't want any more budget cuts.

Thats a good idea, but if the kids wanted, we could be having parties everyday without instruction time. What's the point of school if we don't learn? Maybe it would be fine once every two months, but we should still have learning time. -Tina
If i could add an amendment to be published in the Constitution, it would be that teachers can not take away recess as a punishment. They should take away other fun things. Silent lunch would be a better punishment instead of recess because we need to exercise. We only have 20 minutes of recess which is totally not enough, we should have at least 30 minutes. -Riley
I think teachers should not be able to be mean for no reason. Like yelling about nothing. Some teachers just yell because they can. So all teachers out there you shall not yell at us by the court of law! And when the teachers yell for no reason they are kidia bulling us. So all teachers out there don't you dare even try to yell for no reason. And i do get that it is okay to yell if a kid does something horrible but just don't yell because you can! Parker, Two pounds is very light. What if I have to carry my Challenge binder, two notebooks, two folders, my lunchbox, my agenda, etc.? That weighs more than two pounds. Though, I understand and like your thinking.��
If I was allowed to add an amendment to the Bill of Rights it would be. (drum role here)
It would be that before the teacher eliminates recces for the whole class kids will be allowed to express themselves to the teacher, because most of the time it is just groups. If the teacher does not allow this there will be fairness problems.
Ms.Hall thanks this is so fun. I personally really like that we can have recces through high school. I hope nobody makes us lose the privilege of this Ms. Hall.
My amendment would be the right that all homeless people or pets should have a home for free like a retirement community for FREE. Everyone should be taken care of no matter what. - Delaney
So... like you think that taxes should go towards homeless people? I like your thinking but I think that taxes have to go towards alot of other things and that there are so many homeless people out there that there wouldn't be enough money to spend on that. Maybe 2 people per home?
My amendment would be that all students should have the right to a safe environment and a right to speak their mind . Also students should be criticized for being behind everybody works at their own pace. - Hanna
I think that all people should be able to write something on the internet without someone tracking them down and trying to kill them. I'm not trying to be violent or anything. -Lilly
My ammendment is that everybody should have the right to be equaly educated as any other student. If you don't have a computer you should be able to stay after school for one. Also the FBI and CIA shouldn't listen in on calls and read texts. Every time I call or text I feel as if my privacy is being invaded.

Which part do you not understand? By the CIA thing I mean that they listen in on calls and read people's texts. Don't come after me CIA. By the education thing I mean that some people do not have computers and they need them to do homework like this, so they should be able to stay after school and get their homework done.
If I could make an amendment it would be that you should be able to have lunch outside. I think that would be great because if it is a wonderful day, it would be even more wonderful to eat outside and enjoy it. Of course you would have to pick up after yourself and eat in one area, so we wouldn't trash the entire playground. This way you could have lunch before recess or vice versa because lunch and recess are consecutive.
if i had to go with one amendment it would be children could not be arrested. and there should be a children CIA and FBI. were they could arrest parents. -asher
If I could make a new amendment it would be if one or two kids get in trouble, the whole class shouldn't get in trouble. It is annoying when one kid ruins it for the whole grade. The teacher should only punish that particular kid. -Nylah
My amendment is that people do not have the right to bear arms unless given permission and put under surveillance. the gun would have a tracking device.

If I could add an amendment to the Constitution it would be that there would be a tax on unhealthy food or on candy, or the companies will pay a fee to doctors and dentists who help people with less money. That way, people who drink soda almost every day will have a chance to get their teeth cleaned or get a blood test, but I do not mean a $100 x-ray or monthly check-ups for braces. : $
My mom says that grownups should have the right to have nap time. If I could add an amendment, it would state that class cannot start until 10 a.m. and class should end at 3 pm. I think kids wake up too early to catch the bus and to get class on time.:-o

If I could make a new amendment to the Constitution it would be that you have to have security cameras in every school. I know it would cost a lot of money, but the cameras would be fully funded by the government. The reason I want security cameras in every school is because, a lot of low funded schools don't have a very good security system and this is a way that you can get one without having to pay. Since the citizens of the United States of America have to pay taxes, I think that the government should be able to fund schools that can't afford security cameras. - Isabella Luz
I think that we should have a classroom bill of rights. The first amendment should be: Do not discriminate against other students, teachers, or staff members because of race, religion, gender, or any other unjust reason. If anyone agrees with me about a classroom bill of rights, then please post a second amendment to add to this.

If I was allowed to add an amendment to the Bill of Rights it would be. (drum role here)
ReplyDeleteIt would be that before the teacher eliminates recces for the whole class kids will be
allowed to express themselves to the teacher, because most of the time it is just groups.
If the teacher does not allow this there will be fairness problems.

My amendment would be the right that all homeless people or pets should have a home for free like a retirement community for FREE. Everyone should be taken care of no matter what.

DeleteI like your thinking but I think that taxes have to go towards alot of other things and that there are so many homeless people out there that there wouldn't be enough money to spend on that. Maybe 2 people per home?
I think this is a great idea. People should be treated equally-no matter what.

DeleteMy ammendment is that everybody should have the right to be equaly educated as any other student. If you don't have a computer you should be able to stay after school for one. Also the FBI and CIA shouldn't listen in on calls and read texts. Every time I call or text I feel as if my privacy is being invaded.

By the education thing I mean that some people do not have computers and they need them to do homework like this, so they should be able to stay after school and get their homework done.

DeleteIf I could make an amendment it would be that you should be able to have lunch outside. I think that would be great because if it is a wonderful day, it would be even more wonderful to eat outside and enjoy it. Of course you would have to pick up after yourself and eat in one area, so we wouldn't trash the entire playground. This way you could have lunch before recess or vice versa because lunch and recess are consecutive.

If I could make a new amendment it would be if one or two kids get in trouble, the whole class shouldn't get in trouble. It is annoying when one kid ruins it for the whole grade. The teacher should only punish that particular kid.

DeleteIf I could add an amendment to the Constitution it would be that there would be a tax on unhealthy food or on candy, or the companies will pay a fee to doctors and dentists who help people with less money. That way, people who drink soda almost every day will have a chance to get their teeth cleaned or get a blood test, but I do not mean a $100 x-ray or monthly check-ups for braces.

If I could make a new amendment to the Constitution it would be that you have to have security cameras in every school. I know it would cost a lot of money, but the cameras would be fully funded by the government. The reason I want security cameras in every school is because, a lot of low funded schools don't have a very good security system and this is a way that you can get one without having to pay. Since the citizens of the United States of America have to pay taxes, I think that the government should be able to fund schools that can't afford security cameras.

I think school should start at 6:30 AM and then it will end at 1 PM. So then we will have a lot of time after school.
