Change?

The Civil Rights Movement was a major part of American history. In your opinion, do you believe things have changed a great deal or is there still work to be done? Provide at least 2 examples to support your answer.

  2. I think there is still work to be done because there is still some segregated states. Segregation is bad and I think there is still some work to be done with these states. Also, the Civil Rights movement was the right thing to do but this movement didn't do enough to stop segregation.

  4. I think the civil rights movement worked but not that much. I think this because the kids got to go to regular schools but there was still racism with adults in these days. one example is police brutality another is what happened at the Oscars when no black person won an award.

  6. I think that the civil rights movement was a great idea because it was treated everyone equal with all their rights. Like MLK and Rosa Parks those two people were the most imnportant people in the 1950's because they both did something to change live in America. MLK did the "I Have a Dream" speech and Rosa Parks Bus BoyCott.

  7. Yes I think things have changed but not all the way. People in different parts in the world are still racist. Some people still don't allow other races to come in their area and its segregated. Its not as bad as it was in the 1950's but things have changed in some countries but not all.

  10. The civil rights movement is over but it should not be. We need to keep fighting until every last racist is wiped out of our soon to be beutiful country. We need one final stand of the best civil rights leader's to take racism out of all states in the U.S. and possibly the world.

  13. i think it has changed a lot because now there are no segregated schools or segregated bathrooms dinners. but i also still think there is a lot to change still. like there is still the KKK then adding on to that some times you see news reports of bad things happening to black people. like one time there was a black family that were the only black family in a neighborhood and there house was vandalized and spray painted to say WHITES ONLY.so to say i think there is nothing more to be done in my opinion would be wrong but there has been a lot of improvement.

  19. i think we had a lot of progress but were still working on it.there still discrimination creeping around witch i think is super dumb.but on the bright side no bathrooms are segregated or anything like that.but this is how i feel about the remaining discrimination.PEOPLE WE HAVE FOUGHT LIKE 3 WARS TO STOP THIS PLUS LIKE 40 HUGE PROTESTS TO STOP THIS!!!but we have definatly gone a long way.

  20. i think the world is great because their is no more segregated schools or dinner or bathrooms. but i think their is more things that need to be improved. like last year their was a black lady that got treated wrong in a store. she was trying to buy something and the white cashier er wouldn't let her buy it but he let the white person buy what they wanted to buy. also in this world their is still slavery in some countries and blacks are still not being treated equal. so in my opinion i believe that the world isn't perfect yet. their still some things that need to be done in this worldddddddd!!!.

  22. I think we still should make some changes. The US is awesome but other counties still are segregated. I also think that if Donald Trump is president we will have to deal with slavery with every single race that isn't like him im getting off topic so i should stop. But i still think that the Civil Rights Movement made a huge difference. Oh btw BOO DONALD TRUMP!!!!! I DON'T LIKE HIM AND I NEVER WILL!! okay bye - Mia Cabral ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°) ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

  25. In my opinion, things have changed a great deal, Africans could go to school, vote, and can sit wherever they want, but I think there is still some work to do. There is still discrimination, going on today to other races, not just to Africans, like Muslims. Donald Trump discriminates against Muslims saying he would make them have to leave America if he becomes president. Some whites still discriminate against Africans as well, which means work still needs to be done.

  33. I believe things have changed. African Americans have been able to vote, and they have the rights that all other Americans do. In other countries, there is still segregation and slavery which we have to stop. America is a free country. Many people come from other countries to get there freedom, in which there country could possibly not have. Even though America is a wonderful country and we have great freedom, other countries do not and we have to stop that.

  37. For the U.S., I believe that there is little room for improvement in this matter. But there is still room. Right now, a law is being presented to Congress that allows business owners to fire someone or decline a job request based on race, religion, or belief, which will not pass. The name of this bill is something like the "Freedom Rights Law" or something like that that has no correspondence whatsoever to its contents. In other countries, Slavery is still very much a thing, and they treat females extremely poorly, like not allowing them to show any part of them except for their eyes and the tiny space between them, which makes no sense at all.

  38. I believe that it has changed a great deal because African Americans vote, go to school, and sit where they want to. I also believe that America can still make it happen less. For example, people still want to come into america but if they are Muslim or another race some people say that they should not come in to america. I believe america is a strong, beautiful country but we still have our flaws. I think that america can be better place for many people.

  42. I believe that there is still a lot of work that has to be done in the terms of the Civil Rights movement. But, I also believe that America made a lot of progress. For example, they made segregation illegal. On the other hand, there is still discrimination against, not just African Americans, but, all minorities. There are still hate crimes that occur in some states. Although America might still be facing discrimination, I think that this country really changed from how it used to be.

African Americans can now vote and do other things that they used to not be able to do. I also think that America could get better too. 44. I believe that things of changed in terms of segregation but are not as good as they could be for all people. I believe that the government tries and so do many people to have equal rights for all people but they don't try hard enough to make sure everyone has a life as fair as possible when it comes to segregation. So in conclusion, I believe segregation has gotten better but the US still has some more work to do.

  52. I think that things have changed a great deal since segregation. I mean, the fact that I can drink from the same water fountain as anybody (regardless of race) does is an improvement on its own. Another example is that I have neighbors of all races and friends of all races. If there was still segregation, I wouldn't be allowed to do that. I also want to say that when I said there has been a great deal of change, I did not mean that it could not be even better. But the fact that a whole country is out of segregation is a great deal of change.

  56. In my opinion, things definitely have changed for civil rights and most people got their equal rights but there is still work to be done. I mean, we are not being too harsh these days on people from a different race, but people still discriminate others not like themselves. An example of this could be the same-sex marriage act, when the U.S. supreme court finally ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. An issue that is still being debated would be the fact that schools today can be a little segregated. I am not saying that Spark is one of these schools, but there are still schools all over Georgia that do not have the same working environment. Some schools not having nice textbooks, computers, and copy and print machines means that some school are not equal to others. These schools are where many African Americans go to school, and I am not trying to be racist, but this is the reality. In conclusion, things have changed for civil rights but there are things that need to be changed.

  57. I believe that it has changed so very much in the fact of Civil Rights in the past 50 years. But of course there is still a lot of work to be done. Lot's of people's basic rights are taken away every day in other countries other than in America. Like for example, you would think that the KKK would be diminished by now, but it is still a big issue in the news. Like people aren't segregated like they were in 1950-1960, but there are still problems like these in other countries. So overall, there is a lot of room for improvement in the world's Civil Rights issues.

I do not think civil rights in America for African Americans can improve anymore because we are all equal.

For example, in other countries (and sometimes still in the U.S.) African Americans are not treated equally. Some people still also still believe that African Americans are inferior. And there is the other people who walk around carrying the confederate flag. But at the same time we have improved a lot because 60 years ago a certain race couldn't even be friends with another race and they had separated facilities, and now that doesn't happen.
