  1. FIRST COMMENT OHH!!!
I think the Cold War could have been called the "Non-War". The War was called the Cold War in the first place because they never really got into a real war. They only tried to compete with each other in militarism, to get better things than each other. So it could have been called the "Non-War" because there really wasn't any war in it.

One of the impacts the cold war had on the U.S was the threat of being bombed. People would stack up on supplies because of the tension. The cold war was called the non-war because no physical fighting was actually going on, just many races. -Sophia S.

  7. The Cold War could have been called non-war. They didn't actually fight face to face, but both sides tried to make their weapons better than the opposite sides. The effect it had on the U.S. was that when Stalin cut off the West's supplies, the U.S. had to give their supplies to the west just so they could survive, and that made them lose some very nessesary supplies

  9. It made the US spend lots of money because Russia were seeing who could have better weapons and who could get to the moon first there was no actual fight but they say that this war was fought with "words weapons and money ".

  10. The Cold War affected the US by frightening the people that there would be an all-out nuclear war. This was very scary. This could have been called the non-war because no fighting was actually involved. It was, in my opinion, kind of like fighting for bragging rights. The US and the USSR were trying to build bigger and better weapons so they could threaten the other and be able to say, "I have the upper hand" because they would have a more technolgically advanced weapon.

  15. The impact the cold war had on the U.S. was pretty big, because the U.S. spent tons of money to make huge new weapons. The cold war was called a "non-war" because there was actually no fighting the two superpowers U.S. and The Soviet Union just tried to see who could make the biggest and the best weapons.

  16. This war could have been called the Non-War because it was not really a war. The Cold War was a competion between the U.S.A and the soviet union. they competed to see who had the best military army weapons. Also, they competed to see who could get to the moon first. This was called the Space Race. therefore it was not really a war. The cold war had many impacts on the USA. Firstly, Cold War instigated strong anti-communism within the USA. Secondly, Cold War made many Americans to live in fear of danger of war.Thirdly, Cold War had an impact on American people economically. In conclusion, the cold war was never really a war.

  17. The cold war had both a good and bad impact on the US. the cold war made us spend a lot of money trying to compete with the Soviet Union for better weapons and the space race but it also made the US have better weapons if there was ever another war. I think the "non-war" would have been a good name for the cold war simply because there was no actual fighting involved.

  18. The Cold War had a positive impact on the U.S because winning the war showed other countries hows strong the U.S was, protecting them from further attacks. The Cold War also made a big impact on communism. This war could be called the "Non-War", because no real battles/fighting ever occurred.

  21. This could be considered a "non-war" because there were no real battles but every now and then there would be some skirmishes. It affected the U.S. because it was a race for arms and a race to the moon so because of the cold war we landed a man on the moon and we developed many more nuclear weapons.

  24. The Cold War should've been called the "Non-War" because things never got too heated up to become a real war between the Soviet Union and the U.S. The Cold War's impact on the U.S was that it caused us to start developing more nuclear weapons in case the Soviet Union tried to attack. The U.S paid money to help Greece and Turkey fight communists spreading from Eastern Europe.

  25. The cold war made people think bad things were going to happen because of all the new weapons we were making. I also think it helped us by giving us inspiration to make all of this new technology. I think it could have been called the non-war because we never really attacked on each other because we knew that would end up causing total destruction of both of our countries.

  40. The Cold war had an impact on the U.S. because the U.S was one of the “Super Powers,” along with the Soviet Union. This would mean that we would be involved in the arms race(building up our weaponry) and the space race(sending someone to space!).The war could be called a “non-war” because there was no actual fighting going on. It could also be called a “non-war because the war part was just building up weapons, not fighting, like I just mentioned. As a result of all of this “non-war” though the two Super Powers had basically turned into one; the U.S.

The Cold War should be called the non-war because there was no actual fighting and there was no actual war.

  44. The war or not really a war was violent but not the worlds most violent war as in WW11. This did make a change to america but a very little one at that. We may not be the bestest of friends with other places around the world but we did not have to be good friends with them. They needed us to buy there stuff and without us americans they were nothing. So really this war did not really change us that much

  45. Basicly the "war" was a lot of nationalism and militarism because the 2 sides believed they were right and the other side was wrong so therefor the 2 sides just kept building up their weapons until the other gave up but none of them did so the end of the "war" was when the Berlin wall was distracted by the people of Germany.

  59. The Cold War was a 43 year stand-off between the US and the Soviet Union. The war impacted the US in a couple of ways, in which none were US casualties. Many new weapons were created, people landed on the moon, and many other things happened. This war could be called the/a "Non-War"(both words work)because they fought indirectly meaning that they fought but not killing, but trying to best each other. They fought in the Arms and the Space Race. The Berlin Wall was built, separated East from West Berlin, and then got taken down. The Soviet Union eventually collapsed(fell)and this was when the US won. These 2 superpowers fought, and US rose to #1. Good job, America. Keep it on. #JustDoIt
