  2. What I know about the Vietnam war is that it was not the longest war ever but not the shortest either. Also i know that many people who fought in the war are still alive.

  4. One fact about the Vietnam War was that South Vietnam had 200,000-400,000 civilian casualties and 170,000-220,000 military people dead and over 1 million people wounded. The United States had 58,200 dead and 300,000 wounded. And in North Vietnam 50,000+ civilian and 400,000- 1,000,000 and over 500,000 people wounded.

  20. After the Cold war, kroean spilt into two north and south. The U.S and U.N joined South and Japan then joined North. Also, The Korean War was the shorted war ever it was 3 years long.

  32. The Vietnam war was also known as the second Indochina war starting in August 1964 through April 1975. The war started when President Johnson announced that American warships were fired on by North Vietnam. The war ended when Saigon, the North Vietnamese capital, was recaptured.

    1. I knew that the U.S. didn’t lose the war but withdrew before they likely lost. I know that many people have already said this but I did know that it was very recent (or more recent than the Civil war at least.) and that many of the soldiers are still alive, but wounded.

  55. I know that during the Vietnam War, it was a lot like the Korean War. I believe that the north invaded the south to turn Vietnam communist. America, believing in capitalism, supported the losing side, which was south Vietnam. South Vietnam was against communism, but surprisingly did not appreciate the US trying to help.

I also know that my grandpa meet my grandma when he was a soilder in the war and she lived it Vietnam then they decided to move to Atlanta. But, my grandpa told me it was a tragic time and it was often very hard and hrash fighting in the war.

  68. What I know about the war is that it was very hard. I had family members be in that war and the cool thing is one of them is alive and not old. But That's not the point, The point is that being in the war was difficult and it was long battle. Many people lost there life's to fight in the war to help Vietnam to not become communists, Unfortently they still are :(

At the end of the war there was no clear winner but Vietnam became united as a communist country soon after.   83. Vietnam was a French colony from the mid-19th century until its expulsion in 1954. Since the US Congress never declared war against Vietnam, it should be called the Vietnam conflict instead of the Vietnam war. Nearly two-thirds of the American men serving the war were volunteers.
